The simultaneous movement concept is an innovative feature that makes the MOTOmed muvi unique. For the first time, it is possible to train with the legs and arms at the same time. Passive or active training, movement speed and braking resistance for the legs and arms can be set separately even during simultaneous movement. This allows the user, for example, to have the legs moved passively while actively training with the arms. Depending on the indication, simultaneous movement can increase therapy effectiveness and reduce the therapy effort. All materials used are disinfectable. Horizontal, vertical and radial adjustments can be adapted to the user without tools. Different handgrips, which lock quickly and securely via a safety bracket, can be changed without tools.
Much like a bicycle with an auxiliary motor, the MOTOmed ServoPedalling function supports the user in performing their active movement. The function enables the person training to carry out active movement even with the smallest amount of their own strength. Residual muscle strength can be detected and built up without overtaxing effort.
All MOTOmed models give the user a wide range of training feedback. Training values such as duration, distance, symmetry, total output, tone, the average and maximum active output as well as the active and passive share of training can be read on the screen both in real time during training and as an overall evaluation afterwards.
The symmetry training function shows its beneficial effect when the goal is to specifically strengthen the weaker side. The way the function is displayed varies depending on the model. On the MOTOmed viva2 models, a two-bar diagram shows the user how much of their applied strength comes from the left or right side of the body. Based on this graphic display, the user can specifically engage their „weaker“ side during training. Symmetry training helps prevent overloading of the healthy limbs.
If a muscle cramp, spasm or movement blockage (freezing) occurs during training, this function stops the pedal movement. It makes no difference how the baseline muscle tension changes: movement protection is not constant but automatically adapts to every change. As a result, it always stays optimally sensitive. This function is implemented in all MOTOmed models through sensitive sensor technology.
The colour touch display (12.1-inch diagonal) is designed down to the last detail for medical use: with anti-glare protection, low viewing-angle dependency (best readability), resistive touch (light touches do not trigger unwanted actions), a screen suitable for wipe disinfection, and easy readability, as the displays on the screen are large and clearly laid out, with tactile, slightly raised buttons.
The entry-aid function makes it easier to place the feet into the foot shells before starting training. Using a button on the control unit, the user can move the foot shells continuously into the right position.
The latest version of the MOTOmed muvi comes with a special feature. From now on, music can be played at the same time as movement training. This both increases motivation during training and improves the quality of the therapy. Combining music and movement has been shown to promote cognitive recovery as well as motor coordination.
